This past June we had the opportunity to sit down with none other than John Wadell, Head Blender & Single Barrel Curator over at Peerless Distilling Co, and taste through some absolutely phenomenal Peerless Double Oak Rye single barrels. After an hour or so, a front-runner emerged that we felt would resonate well with our customer base and we were ready to solidify our decision. That's when John told us to pump the brakes.
Knowing exactly the profile of Peerless that we and our customer's were after, John took us to one of his personal favorite barrels in the rickhouse, drilled a sample for us, and, well, the rest is history. This barrel was exactly what we after and what you have bottled before you today.
Nose: Charred campfire marshmallow, honey, oak, chocolate, raspberry preserves Palate: Brown sugar, rye spice, hint of tobacco, sweet oak Finish: Cinnamon, more rye spice balanced out by sweet mocha
